One of the most famous Vikings is Eric Thorvaldson. He achieved fame as Erik the Red, the man who discovered Greenland. They left Iceland and sailed off into the huge Atlantic ocean. Erik sailed west from Iceland to look for a new island to live on. However, he sailed so far that he discovered something amazing. A new country! Erik spent two years exploring the new country. The land was mostly covered in ice, but he founda few green areas and decided to found a colony there. To begin his colony, Erik needed help. and get me some medicine, please. The Vikings used horns in feasting for drinking and blew into them for communicating. They were depicted in Viking brooches and pendants. I can understand that kids are drawn to that. It's so embedded with our society that I don't think we'll ever get rid of that. But actually there's a richer explanation. The Vikings, like burglars returning over and over again to the same houses, refused to leave places alone.
