Schoenberg's approach, both in terms of harmony and development, has been one of the most influential of 20th-century musical thought. Writing afterward to Alban Berg, he cited his "aversion to Vienna" as the main reason for his decision, while contemplating that it might have been the wrong one financially, but having made it he felt content. They included Anton Webern, Alban Berg, and Hanns Eisler, all of whom were profoundly influenced by Schoenberg.

Strongly recommended then, with a final thought to Philips that it has, in Viktoria Mullova, probably the greatest living exponent of Schoenberg's Violin Concerto. Previously my top contender (now sadly out of print) was Pollini with Abbado and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Edmond de Stoutz (18 December 1920 – 28 January 1997) was a Swiss conductor from Zurich. He was the founder of the Zürcher Kammerorchester (Zurich Chamber Orchestra) in 1945 and conducted the ensemble until 1996. As conductor he performed all across the world, including New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. Johann Sebastian Bach: Concerto No. 1 in C minor for two pianos, BWV 1060. Joseph Haydn: Concerto N. 1, Concerto No. 4 in G major, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, EMI 1975.

The Arnold Schönberg Center manages the estate of the founder of twelve-tone music and is a vibrant cultural center. An area is also dedicated to Schönberg in the House of Music. His final resting place can be found in Vienna's Central Cemetery. Important protagonists were Schönberg's pupils Alban Berg and Anton Webern. Their influence on the development of New Music was immense. Is it not the duty of every artist to tell your what you do not know, what you never have heard before, what you never could find out or discover or express yourself?
