Music from Big Pink is the debut studio album by The Band. Released in 1968, it employs a distinctive blend of country, rock, folk, classical, R&B, and soul.
None of the Band's previous work gave much of a clue about how they would sound when they released their first album in July 1968. As it was, Music from Big Pink came as a surprise. At first blush, the group seemed to affect the sound of a loose jam session, alternating emphasis on different instruments, while the lead and harmony vocals passed back and forth as if the singers were making up their blend on the spot

Given that Music From Big Pink came out in the turbulent summer of 1968, it’s tempting to frame the album as a set of soothing sounds for troubled times. Don’t believe it. A Big Pink Think campaign was proposed; inviting fans to name Dylan’s cover painting.
The Band is the second studio album by the Band, released on September 22, 1969. It is also known as The Brown Album. According to Rob Bowman's liner notes for the 2000 reissue, The Band has been viewed as a concept album, with the songs focusing on people, places and traditions associated with an older version of Americana.
A solid album that serves as a strong introduction to the music of The Band; a group who I really had minimal if any at all experience with. I don't know how often I would return to an album like this, but I certainly didn't feel disappointed by the work. mz. 70. Some big noise for pink. Or consider a donation?
The Band’s first effort would be entitled Music From Big Pink. For those who do not know, Big Pink was the house The Band lived in within New York. The group rehearse in the house, and write many of their well known songs inside of the basement. The album holds numerous amounts of Band classics. Not only fabulous playing is inside, but some of their greatest and most emotional lyrics also. The lyrics show signs of each members personalities, and even have almost a theme.
