Our list of the Top 10 Mott the Hoople Songs is heavy on the glam, but you'll find a song or two from their early incarnation in here, too. 10. 'Rock and Roll Queen'. From: 'Mott the Hoople' (1969). Before Bowie sprinkled stardust on them for their fifth album, Mott the Hoople were a British boogie band that sounded a lot like their fellow countrymen who had a thing for American R&B and blues music. Their self-titled debut album is a clumsy mix of covers ('You Really Got Me') and sloppy originals ('Rabbit Foot and Toby Time')
Mott the Hoople is the debut studio album by the band of the same name. It was produced by Guy Stevens and released in 1969 by Island Records in the UK (cat. no. ILPS 9108), and in 1970 by Atlantic Records in the US (cat. SD 8258). It was subsequently re-released by Angel Air in 2003 (SJPCD157).
Mott The Hoople in 1974. Ian Hunter is at far right. At the end of every Def Leppard concert, Joe Elliott tells the cheering crowd, Don’t you ever forget us, and we’ll never forget you! These words come from deep within Elliott’s heart. In the early 1970s, Mott The Hoople was all flash and crash. When they crashed one last time, singer Ian Hunter went solo in 1975. On The Hoople, there’s not much to judge him on, as it’s such a keyboard-heavy album, but he does have his moments on Marionette and Crash Street Kidds. What are your thoughts on Overend Watts (bass) and Verden Allen (keyboards)?

Album · 1974 · 9 Songs. Mott the Hoople frontman Ian Hunter was a true rock ’n’ roll original in that he often donned a gadfly’s hat while composing topical narratives in his songs. Throw in a hankering for organs, saxophones, Bob Dylan, and platform-booted élan, and 1974’s The Hoople captures one of the world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll bands in full power. Brilliant moments abound: there’s a rocking sermon about a . alliance bent on limiting noise at rock shows ( The Golden Age of Rock ’n’ Roll ), a hypnotic requiem to a failed street gang ( Crash Street Kids ), and a l mini-opus of a rock star.
