Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev (/prəˈkɒfiɛf, proʊ-, -ˈkɔː-, -ˈkoʊ-, -jɛf, -jɛv, -iəf/; Russian: Серге́й Серге́евич Проко́фьев, tr. Sergej Sergejevič Prokofjev; 27 April 1891 – 5 March 1953) was a Russian Soviet composer, pianist and conductor. As the creator of acknowledged masterpieces across numerous music genres, he is regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century.

The following is a partial list of compositions by the composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908). The Maid of Pskov (Псковитянка Pskovitjanka) (sometimes referred to as Ivan the Terrible), 1868–1872 (1st version), 1876–1877 (2nd version), 1891–1892 (3rd version). Mlada (Млада), 1872 (portions of acts 2 and 3 from project composed collectively by Borodin, Cui, Minkus, Mussorgsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov). May Night (Майская ночь Majskaja noch’), 1878–1879.

Rimsky-Korsakov: Piano Concerto in C-sharp Minor, Op 3. Moderato. Rimsky-Korsakov: Piano Concerto in C-sharp Minor, Op 3. 3. Allegro. Hardly anyone performs the concertos of Rimsky-Korsakov and Glazunov. Richter has them all in his repertoire. The two romantic concertos are beautiful works that deserve to be played more than they are. Of the 5 Prokofiev Concertos, 2 and 3 are quite popular, so leave it to Richter to play the first and to play it extremely well. Richter worked tirelessly to learn and premiere the Prokofiev Seventh Sonata. In regards to Scriabin, Richter plays the 6th sonata with the correct level of dark energy and mystery required.

Glazunov, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov. Works: Piano Concerto; Piano Concerto No. 1; Piano Concerto No. Performer: Moscow Youth Orch. Melodiya presents mostly studio recordings made before Richter's first appearance in the West in 1960; the Praga set consists of live performances from Prague and its environs, more than half of which date from 1965-88. Most of the Melodiya recordings have been staples of the Richter discography for decades, many of them rightly being seen as among his best work.
