While Brazil may be famous for its larger-than-life carnival celebrations, it’s a different music driven movement that’s grabbed our attention. Underneath the sun, sand and sea rise a key community of producers creating a different shade of drum & bass to any other place in the world. The Future Sound of Brazil’ is the next chapter of Hospital Record’s seminal ‘Future Sound of’ series handpicking the finest talents that Brazil’s shores have to offer. We open the doors to the sound of Urbandawn, one of Hospital Record’s newest signings. His perfectly polished musicality has set label boss.

Info for The New Sound of Brazil. Darkly brilliant – and one of Joao Donato's most fantastic records! The set was recorded during Joao's time in America in the mid 60s – cut in New York with lofty backings by Claus Ogerman, in a pillowy soft mode that fits perfectly with Joao's light bossa piano lines, and which has all the hints of sadness and moodiness that often creep into his playing.

They added a new dimension to the sound of Brazilian music at the time and became the backing group of many with this new sound, including Edyu Lobo. Tracks include ‘Misturada’ and ‘Vim de Santana’. Self titled LP by one of the great and undervalued maestros in Brazil. You just have to look at the amount of re-issues and presses of this record to see how important it was and what a great record it still is. What is so good about the record is really the instrumentation and the production. All of Brazil’s best musicians are on the record and it is one of the most underrated works in Brazil. With new arrangements to songs like ‘Zumbi’, originally from the ‘A Tabua de Esmeralda’ album. Africa Brasil became one of the most emblematic records in the fight for racial equality in Brazil.

Brazil Classics 1: Beleza Tropical Various Artists. Compiled by David Byrne as he was delving into two decades' worth of MPB and Tropicália releases, this is an ideal introduction to one of the most thrilling periods in Brazil's popular music scene.

Made in Brazil is a 2015 studio album by Brazilian jazz pianist Eliane Elias and the first of her albums in thirty years to be recorded in her home country, Brazil. The album earned Elias a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album

As Donato is quoted as saying in the liner notes, Andy thought that Dom Um played ‘too Brazilian,’ and that this would jeopardize the commercial value of the album. The disc is still worthy of any Brazil music fan’s collection.
