This album owes a big part of its appeal to the stunning finger picked lines that Rishell seems to lay down so effortless as to appear common place, blended with the supportive and sensitive harp work of Raines. These two are not only sharing the rich traditions of these country blues, but they are ever widening the audience with their precision playing and empathetic treatment of the music. They bring this style of music to the forefront and make it a living and vital organism

Paul Rishell And Annie Raines. Paul Rishell And Annie Raines - I Want You To Know (CD, Album). Paul Rishell & Annie Raines - Moving To The Country (CD, Album).
Moving to the Country. Rishell and Raines make a potent team, as anyone who caught their last duet, I Want You to Know, can attest. Moving to the Country is an equally tasty mix, with a good selection of covers accompanied by several original songs. Paul and Annie have made their best album together yet! Paul has a masterfull command of the blues that was evident even when we were growing up as kids and playing in bands in the Connecticut area in the mid sixties. I had the pleasure of jamming with Paul and Annie a few years ago at my home and her harp playing even then was the best I had heard and given her young age, was downright scarey! Now as evident on this latest release she has developed into a full blown harp monster!
Moving to the Country won the Blues Music Award for 'Acoustic Blues Album of the Year' in 2000. Raines is primarily known for her harmonica playing, but also plays mandolin, zither, and keyboard instruments. Rishell's primary instrument is guitar, and both perform vocals on their recordings. They have also recorded and performed as members of John Sebastian's J-Band, and appeared on the soundtrack to A Prairie Home Companion. They appeared in the jug band documentary Chasin' Gus' Ghost.
