Rainy Day Women & 35" is a song by Bob Dylan. It is the opening track of his 1966 album, Blonde on Blonde. It was initially released as a single in April 1966, reaching No. 7 in the UK and No. 2 in the US chart. Rainy Day Women", recorded in the Nashville studio of Columbia Records, features a raucous brass band backing track. The song's title does not appear anywhere in the lyrics and there has been much debate over the meaning of the recurrent chorus, "Everybody must get stoned".

Produced by Bob Johnston. Album Blonde On Blonde. Rainy Day Women & 35 Lyrics. Well, they'll stone you when you're tryin' to be so good They'll stone you just like they said they would They'll stone you when you're trying to go home Then they'll stone you when you're there all alone. But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned.

Written by: Bob Dylan. Well, they’ll stone ya when you’re trying to be so good They’ll stone ya just a-like they said they would They’ll stone ya when you’re tryin’ to go home Then they’ll stone ya when you’re there all alone But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned. Well, they’ll stone ya when you’re walkin’ ’long the street They’ll stone ya when you’re tryin’ to keep your seat They’ll stone ya when you’re walkin’ on the floor They’ll stone ya when you’re walkin’ to the door But I would not feel so all alone Everybody must get stoned.

The double meaning of the term 'stoned' was wasted (pun intended) on most listeners to this tune, who were probably quite fried when they jubilantly shouted: "everybody must get stoned!'.A weak, silly Dylan song. He is pandering to his audience here much like Chuck Berry embarrassed himself with his 'hit', "My Ding-A-Ling". Why this bit of trifle was selected to open Bobby's masterpiece "Blonde on Blonde" is anybody's guess. Song has dated terribly, much like a Cheech and Chong movie.
