This double-CD set (part of the French RCA Jazz Tribune series) includes all of King Oliver's Victor recordings of 1929-30, except for a few alternate takes. The cornetist in fact takes a few memorable solos, particularly on "Too Late" and "Struggle Buggy. feat: Clarence Williams Orchestra.

Joseph Nathan Oliver, better known as Joe "King" Oliver (December 19, 1881 – April 10, 1938), was a jazz cornet player and bandleader. He was particularly recognized for his playing style and his pioneering use of mutes in jazz. Also a notable composer, he wrote many tunes still played today including "Dippermouth Blues", "Sweet Like This", "Canal Street Blues" and "Doctor Jazz". He was the mentor and teacher of Louis Armstrong
