Tracklist: ww. akenfoldmixes. 3y ago. What a set. Paul at his best.

Artist: Danny Rampling & Pete Tong. Album: Essential Mix. Year: 1995. Rampling's set is almost unlistenable due to the live MC-ing by MC Kinky over the top. Didn't mind at first, but it proceeds to get extremely irritating. Only so many times I can stomach hearing her yelping at the "Liverpool massive". Tong's set is decent, if a little safe and familiar in terms of track selection. Mon, 2015-04-27 05:43 - matrix.

Danny Rampling, founder of the influential London dance party Shoom, and fellow DJs look back on how the series helped birth modern rave culture. In September 1987, four London club and pirate-radio DJs – Nicky Holloway, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling and Johnny Walker – spent a week on the Balearic island of Ibiza, a place where, legend had it, as journalist Chris Heath wrote in 1990, it was even possible to get drugs on room service. Carl Cox: Danny Rampling was basically playing funk, soul and disco music at the time. I used to go and see him play at the local wine bars and pubs and certain funk and soul parties in the area. Paul Oakenfold: I remember spending my money on an import Isley Brothers album and then having to dodge the landlord because I didn’t have enough money to pay rent. Carl Cox: When I heard the first tune by Chip E. called Time to Jack, I was in.

Danny Rampling has been one of the most famous DJs on the British house scene since its beginnings. After being exposed to the original Balearic vibes on Ibiza, Rampling returned to London, founded several seminal club nights, and DJed on pirate radio until the music he helped push went mainstream . .Rampling's Shoom was perhaps the most important club night for early house music; though only a few hundred clubbers were exposed to the new sound at Shoom, it proved the vital spark for later clubs and raves which numbered thousands of entries. Signed to Distance Records, he returned in 1998 with new productions and another mix album, Club Nation, recorded for Virgin.

Danny Rampling: "Probably the sexiest acid house 303 production, this version was huge at the Fitness Centre. I used to mix up two copies and extend the gated synth breakdown to great dance floor effect. Danny Rampling: "Produced by London DJs Lawrence Kid Bachelor and Leslie Lawrence and Keith Franklin, Release Your Body is an early UK house production that Derrick May remixed and signed to Transmat. Also another favourite at Shoom at the Fitness centre from '88-'89 – it's a stripped back pumping track that we released our spirits to under the strobes and in the smoke.
