James Ferraro ‎– Rerex. Label: Aguirre Records ‎– ZORN16. The original album had a bunch of lo-fi rumble and hiss to it, so keep that in mind when listening to the album (you can compare how the vinyl sounds to the videos on the right), but like I said, maybe I got lucky with my copy. Sounds very well mastered too. Great reissue, nice simple packaging. Reply Notify me 7 Helpful.

if anyone has a decent rip, would love to hear it. message me

This pressing is very static-y. Mine was nearly un-playable, even after thorough cleaning. I picked up an anti-static brush for $13 and problem solved! I'm really pleased because this is such a cool release. Buy an anti-static brush!

Okay, so now I finally have one in my hands. Maybe I got lucky with my copy because it pretty great. Some clicks, but nothing Audacity can't fix when ripping it to digital, and the clicks aren't even distracting anyways. One of my favorite Ferraro releases. So beautiful.

Got two copies of this and both sounded terrible, the vinyl is full of surface noise, loud popping and clicks. Buy with caution.

use anti-static brush. I didn't have ANY problems. great album
  • Kiutondyl
My copy of this sounds absolutely awful. It's mastered ridiculously low and my brand new copy is full of static and pops. I will probably never listen to this. Not good. Maybe it's just my copy...
  • Ucantia
Having to deal with 30 minutes per side it was physically impossible not to master this release really low. I understand that the artist/ label may have wanted to preserve the integrity of each take but it is just ill advised, to say the least, to put up for sale a release like this, they may had good intentions but it was doomed from the beginning.
  • Khiceog
Mine is pretty noisy. I have no problem with the mastering but the vinyl is full of static and pops. Unfortunately there is a lot of bad vinyl pressing going on in Europe.
  • SoSok
Can anyone report how this vinyl sounds? Half an hour per side? I'm pretty sure it would still sound great, with this being lo-fi music and all. Just thinking about getting this and want to make sure it sounds okay.
  • Uthergo
no problems about the vinyl pressing, anti-static brush helped for the surface noises.
  • Manona
Okay, thanks for letting me know! Definitely still planning on getting this, anyways.
  • Blackworm
Sounds really good, you are right it's lo-fi music but its pretty loud, the mastering is good. The vinyl pressing itself is not so good, very noisy with static and pops and clicks.
