Ars Nova is a Japanese progressive rock band. The current members are Keiko Kumagai (keyboards), Shinko "Panky" Shibata (bass guitar), Hazime (drums) and Satoshi Handa (guitar). Ars Nova's music features keyboards heavily-this was particularly true between 1998 and 2003 when the band had two keyboard players. Common sounds include the ubiquitous Hammond organ, as well as more recent digital sounds. Almost all of their music is instrumental.

Ars Nova is made up of many different musical styles ranging from Jefferson Airplane-esque late 60's psych, to almost medieval troubadourian dansas or baladas. The term 'Ars Nova' pertains to a period in French medieval history during the early 14th century. The album was originally released on the 'Elektra' records label in 1968, and I feel it's light years ahead of what anyone else was doing at the time. Paul A. Rothchild produced it, and you may recognize his name from the back covers of LP's by The Doors, Love, and The Stooges.

The Book of the Dead (Ars Nova album). The Book of the Dead (Reu Nu Pert Em Hru) is a 1998 album by Ars Nova. It had slightly different releases in the Japanese and European markets. It was generally well received. Prologue: Re" (1:35). Interlude 1:". Japanese: "Horus" (1:31). European: "Nut" (1:11). Interlude 2: Anubis" (0:40). Held of Iaru" (10:43). Interlude 3:". Japanese : "Thoth" (1:27).

Progressive Power Ars Nova. Total playing time 5. 3.

In my opinion ARS NOVA has reached their pinnacle with this album, other albums also contain great material but sound less mature, they fail to generate the same excitement. At some moments I think "I've heard this before" and then my attention fades away. Nonetheless, all ARS NOVA albums reach a decent level and always contain good keyboardplay to enjoy.

ARS NOVA is a band formed in Barcelona in 2008, with members with years of experience in the Spanish music scene.
