Best of Bee Gees is a 1969 compilation album by the English rock band Bee Gees. It was their first international greatest hits album. It featured their singles from 1966-1969 with the exception of the band's 1968 single "Jumbo". The following songs in this compilation from 1966-1969 was very popular worldwide and was picked up by many casual fans who owned no other Bee Gees album. It includes the US singles "Holiday" and "I Started a Joke".
This Bee Gees discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Bee Gees albums can be found at the top of the list. While casual listeners recognize the Bee Gees as a disco act, due to the popularity of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack (1978), the Australian brothers’ first album (The Bee Gees Sing and Play 14 Barry Gibb Songs) was filled with rich three-part harmonies and Merseybeat pop songs. Albums from the disco era include Main Course (1975) and Children of the World (1976).
The best album by Bee Gees is Odessa which is ranked number 2,710 in the overall greatest album chart with a total rank score of 751. The Bee Gees were one of the few groups that were able to change and evolve and become essential throughout their existence.
At their (perhaps, in hindsight) surprising best, the threesome, along with capable if generally unremarkable rhythm section members Melouney and Colin Peterson, created a slew of tender, affecting, and quite lovely hits. While the Stones/proto-metal crowd of the time probably thought them unbearably wimpy, their songwriting acumen, combined with their harmonies, fine production by Robert Stigwood, and ace orchestral/band arrangements by Bill Shephard, holds up astonishingly well.
Best of Bee Gees is a compilation album of the early hits of the Bee Gees' international career, released in 1969.
