He also contributed to David Jackman's Organum, and joined the British collective Ora in 1991. Chalk emerged solo with the crystalline, shimmering ambient music of (b East of the Sun (1997), containing Winter Arc (1994) and The Plain (1996), and soon became a specialist of ringing overtones. The Cable House (Faraway Press, 2009) creates fragile ghosts of melodies out of piano notes. Half of it is taken up by the 20-minute Naybuchi. In Faxfleet Clouds Uplifted Autumn Gave Passage To Kind Nature (Faraway Press, 2009) documents a collaboration with Daisuke Suzuki (an old Ora collaborator).

The Cable House is a Richardsonian Romanesque-style house near Michigan Avenue at 25 E. Erie St. in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was built in 1886 by Cobb and Frost for socialite Ransom R. Cable. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on October 2, 1991. In 1902, the house was purchased by Robert Hall McCormick for his son, Robert Hall McCormick III who was head of the McCormick Estate. He lived there with his family until 1926 when it was sold and became a funeral home.

Two versions exist
• Standard edition without obi strip
• Japanese edition including obi strip (this)
The album is an edition of 300 copies only and features completely hand made sleeves, of which the artwork was printed from woodcuts for front and back and then tipped on afterwards. No two copies are exactly alike and the printing blocks will no longer be used now the edition is finished.
Many thanks are due to Daisuke Suzuki who as ever has been a constant encouragement and helped shape the final finished collection, as well as supplying some invaluable research and translations for the Japanese edition.
