Gaetano Fasanotti (1831–1882) was an Italian painter. He was born and died in Milan. He trained under Giovanni Renica and was named professor of landscape painting to the Academy of Brera. Among his pupils were Guido Ricci, Eugenio Gignous and Leonardo Bazzaro. Born to a family of modest means, he studied at the Brera Academy, where he was a pupil of Gaetano Fasanotti, Ricciardi, and Raffaele Casnedi. As a landscape artist he was influenced by his fellow alumni, Eugenio Gignous, and Silvio Poma. In 1872 to Milan, he sent: Lungo l'Adda presso Brivio and La Molgora in Brianza; in 1877 he exhibited Le Alpi, Una mattina; and in 1881 and 1883: L'Autunno, Un vano nel Ticino, Fiori, and Maggino sulle Prealpi e Breglia presso il Lago di Como. His Ticino painting was again exhibited at Rome in 1883.
Donato Lovreglio was an Italian flautist and composer, mainly of music for his own instrument and other woodwinds. He was a native of Bari, and later moved to Naples, where he died. Among his compositions are numerous concert fantasies and arrangements of themes from a number of Giuseppe Verdi's operas, including Simon Boccanegra, Don Carlos, and La traviata.
Donato Lovreglio was born in Bari but spent most of his life in Naples. He was a flautist and composed many pieces, mostly operatic fantasies, for his own instrument, but in 1865 he also published three fantasies for clarinet and one for oboe. Those for clarinet were the well known Fantasia on La Traviata, a Fantasia on Donizetti's Maria Stuarda and the present work, a Fantasia on the Verdi opera which was first performed at the Teatro Apollo, Rome on 17 February 1859.
