Enter The Gyrlz- a trio made up of background vocalists Tara Geter and Monica Payne and the primary lead singer Terri Robinson. The female group initially got their start as background singers for Al B. Sure in their early years. They contributed background vocals on two songs from Sure's debut "In Effect Mode"- "Ooh This Love Is So" and "Just A Taste Of Lovin'". Al's Uptown release was under Warner Bros. Their debut "Love Me Or Leave Me" was produced primarily by Kyle West- save for the Teddy Riley produced first single "Wishing You Were Here". On their debut, they seem mature and assured- even if they were still teenagers at the time of the album's release. They start the album off with "If It's Games You're Playing", where they take a lover to task over his relentless string of mind games.

After Geter left the group, Robinson and Payne continued on as a duo. They released a pair of full-length recordings, 1993's Systa and 1996's Suga, both released via Epic Records. In 1988, The Gyrlz released their debut album Love Me or Leave Me, which was produced by Kyle West, Teddy Riley and written by The Gyrlz. The album had hits such as, "Jam Jam (If You Can), "It's All Because of You", It's Over" and "Love Stories". Even though the album had classic tracks and heavy air-play, The Gyrlz weren't promoted correctly, ending with Tara Geter leaving the group
