With the trio Los Ticos, Mario Chacon returned to Mexico in 1950 and made such records for RCA Victor. From this period are the discs Giving The doll and the rumba, the Cuban Ñico Saquito; Crazy about you, Mark Candia, and Piedad, Mario Chacon. By 1965, the trio evolved into what would be called the Joint Rhythmic Los Ticos, with trumpets and saxophones. Unlike the trio, dedicated to boleros, merengues that group also performed, cumbias, guarachas and ballads. El Torito b/w Ticas Lindas (7").

In my Spanish class we’ve devoted a lot of time to idiomatic phrases of Costa Rica and other Latin American countries. Not a day goes by that I don’t hear the phrases Gracias a Díos, ¡Que torta! and Santo Díos from my Spanish professor. Gracias a Díos of course means Thanks to God. Santo Díos is more equivalent to oh my god or holy crap (at least in my vernacular)
